Grey Rock — Privacy Policy

1. What we collect

Grey Rock has no accounts and no sign-up. The app identifies your device with a random anonymous device ID used only for subscription and quota state. Contact names, contact phone numbers, and address-book data never leave your device. We do not collect, transmit, or store them.

2. What we never do

No analytics SDKs. No tracking. No advertising.
No sale or sharing of personal data with third parties — including mobile numbers, message content, contact lists, or any data derived from your use of the app.
No message content in logs, push notifications, or analytics.
No marketing to you, and we do not market anyone else to you.

3. Mobile information non-sharing

No mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes at any time.

This applies to phone numbers collected through contact designation, opt-in, or any other path. Mobile information is used solely to send the messages you author through the Grey Rock app. Information may be shared with subprocessors (Cloudflare, OpenRouter, Twilio, Apple) strictly as required to deliver the service; those subprocessors are bound by their own data-protection terms.

4. Message content

Message content you choose to rewrite is transmitted to our rewrite service in memory only — it is never logged, never stored, and never used for training. Relay messages are stored as ciphertext; only your device holds the decryption key. Push notifications contain no message content.

5. SMS / Relay program disclosures

Message and data rates may apply. Sending and receiving SMS through the optional Relay feature uses your mobile carrier's messaging plan; standard rates apply.

Message frequency: varies. Grey Rock is opt-in per message; the user initiates each send. Most users send roughly 1–5 messages per week to each designated contact, but there is no fixed schedule. Sending can be paused at any time.

Opt-out instructions: the recipient can reply STOP at any time to opt out, STOPALL to cancel all future messages, or HELP for program information. The app processes opt-outs immediately and will not send to a recipient who has opted out.

Program name: "Grey Rock relay" — the program name is shown in every OptInMessage, OptOutMessage, and HelpMessage reply so the recipient always knows who is messaging them and how to opt out.

6. Subprocessors

Cloudflare — hosting, edge network, and worker runtime.
OpenRouter — rewrite model inference. Message content transits in memory only; OpenRouter's terms apply.
Twilio — Relay SMS transport. A2P 10DLC campaign registered under brand BN654e1ad849bdc861c9021f8e9b012c2e (sole proprietor).
Apple — App Store, In-App Purchase subscriptions, and APNs push delivery.

7. Children's privacy

Grey Rock is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

8. Changes

We will post material changes here with an updated effective date. Continued use after the effective date constitutes acceptance.
